Thanks James. Yes, I've seen the various open source ID network efforts. While it's clever to trade opt in hassle for data access, these efforts (ATX, UID2, the other SWAN/) are part of what I'm saying is a #cookiemullet. I understand the need to temporarily preserve ID & data links between the big open adtech companies, to homogenize consumer data. I'm just trying to help propel adtech to the next step 😊

Here's a link to the SWAN Model Terms which bind the data transfers.

https://github.com/SWAN-community/swan/blob/main/model-terms-explainer.md

I believe they're quite different to Brilig as nothing is opaque. Indeed all data capture and processing is strictly defined as are breech penalties. What do you think?

Videos on the SWAN web site provide an explanation.

Very helpful. Thanks. SWAN seems to be directionally the "son of blockchain" we're hoping for. I should have said this earlier but when I said "opaque", I meant from the user/consumer standpoint which I think is an application layer on top of a construct like SWAN. I like it. Would be happy to talk further.

Why temporarily? True transparency can be built into data exchanges via a data stewardship solution via SWAN model terms. People know their privacy choices are respected. If they're not they have the crypto graphic proof to engage regulators. The decentralised design prevents tyranny now and in the future. No party can exploit a monopoly position via control of technology. Just like email service provision. Decentralised solutions that protect users by both enabling competition so they have choices and privacy are a better way forward IMO.

I respect your opinion and have been "there" via Brilig. Its my opinion that all these opaque new ID networks will either perish or evolve into AI data companies. Happy to discuss.
